[01]From a chemical-auxiliaries works to a specialist CMC producer

Sentai was established in 2003 in Xiangtan — an industrial city on the Xiang River in central Hunan — building on the former state-owned Xiangtan chemical auxiliaries works. From the start the company focused on one family of molecules: carboxymethyl ethers of cellulose and starch.

Over twenty years the product range has grown from technical CMC for detergents and drilling to refined grades that demand much tighter control: food-grade CMC to GB 1886.232, toothpaste binders and, most recently, ≥ 99.5 % purity battery-grade CMC for lithium-ion anodes and a surface-treated instant CMC developed in-house.

Today Sentai supplies paper mills, battery-material producers, food and oral-care manufacturers, ceramic plants and drilling-fluid companies in China and in export markets across South America, Asia-Pacific, North America, Europe and Africa.

2003
Sentai is founded in Xiangtan
Established with registered capital of RMB 13.9 million, building on the former state-owned Xiangtan chemical auxiliaries works, to produce sodium carboxymethyl cellulose.
2010s
Portfolio expands to PAC and CMS
Polyanionic cellulose for oil-field drilling and a 5,000 t/yr carboxymethyl-starch line join the CMC range; exports begin to Asia and the Americas.
2020s
Battery-grade and instant CMC
≥99.5% purity battery-grade CMC (ST-1 to ST-5) for lithium-ion anodes and a surface-treated instant-dissolving CMC series are developed with a Central South University R&D lab.
2024
CIBF and China paper exhibitions
Battery CMC shown at CIBF; paper-grade CMC and CMS at the Guangzhou International Paper Exhibition.
2026
Canton Fair, CIBF and Ceramics China
